Hi! I'm Karen, an interaction designer, researcher and strategist with a background in architecture working at the intersection of  human-computer interaction, intelligence augmentation and the built environment.

I recently graduated with an MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design, New York, where I studied on a President’s Scholarship. I simultaneously attended a one year collaborative Product Development program at Cornell Tech and hold a Bachelor of Architecture from the American University of Beirut. I previously worked and collaborated with renowned companies in New York, Paris, London and Beirut, including Samsung, Intersection, New York Times, Mixed Reality Collaboratory at Cornell Tech and Manuelle Gautrand Architecture. My work has been published in SiGraDi 2020 in Transformative Design and in CHI 2019 in the domain of microbial interfaces and I have earned awards such as Global Winner in Architecture in Undergraduate Awards (UA) 2018.

With a set of skills ranging from architecture to interaction design, UX / UI, programming and design strategy, I design - & architect - virtual, digital and hybrid physical-digital prototypes for 2D/3D interfaces using immersive technologies (VR/AR/XR), AI / Machine Learning and Physical Computing. My interests lie in exploring new interaction patterns with the world around us and new design principles using emerging technologies, particularly in the realm of smart cities (future of mobility), smart spaces (future of everyday spaces) and the future of collaboration.
